How would you describe the new live double-CD "I sommarnattens ljus"?
-We have tried to find the great, wonderful moments. We have taped very many concerts since 1991. CD 1 contains material from the three Rocktågen 1991-1993. CD 2 is from the tours En hel kväll Ledin 1997, Festen har börjat 2001 and Hela vägen 2002. At first we were a bit afraid that it would sound disrupted since these are different tours, different bands and so on. But it feels like at the end there was a flow and that we had captured a uniform feeling.

You've only made two live albums earlier, haven't you?
-Yes, my first one was called "Tagen på bar gärning" and came out in 1978. The second, "En galen kväll", was released in 1985. In other words, it's almost been 20 years since it was recorded so it felt like it was about time.

Except for the live recordings, you've included four studio tracks. Why?
-I went into the studio during the spring to record the single "En man som älskar" and it was so much fun that suddenly we had four tracks. So we included all of them on the live album like some sort of bonus and to frame the records. They are three rock songs and one more mellow song.

What's the story behind the title track?
-We wanted to release it as a single already in the summer of 1991 but there wasn't enough time since it was written right before the premiere of the tour and then it was put aside in spite of it being a strong song. But now we felt that it's an obvious song to include, and the title somehow captures the mood of the record.

Is there a song which you feel is quite different compared to the studio version?
-"En del av mitt hjärta" is one where the audience takes over and sing the whole first verse. It sent shivers up my spine, even when I listened to it in the studio later. "I natt är jag din" has an obvious live atmosphere. "Just nu" is clearly different from the studio version. "Då ska jag spela", "Det ligger i luften". Many songs have been reworked. That's how I work, a good song should be able to be performed in different ways and still sound good. When the choice of musicians have been made, then the songs are also shaped by their character and style.

"Sommaren är kort" in regarded by many as the Summer song with a capital S, but it's history is quite interesting. Tell us about it!
-Well, I didn't realize how special it was when I had written it. There were long discussions before it even was included on the album. And unless Marie had insisted, it probably wouldn't have been released as a single.

Do you have any personal favorites among live albums?
-Offhand I can think of Van Morrison's It's Too Late To Stop from 1973. It has an incredible live atmosphere. The Springsteen-box set Live 1975-1985 is also quite good... Besides, today I received the new live double-CD by Led Zeppelin, but I haven't had time to listen to it yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

You're going on your third summer tour in a row this year.
-Yes, and I'm bringing the same musicians with me from the last two years. Jörgen Ingeström on keyboards has been on five of my six latest tours. Ove Andersson on bass has been on three. Sebastian Nylund on guitar and Johan Franzon on drums have been a part the past couple of years. It's a great rock'n'roll machine we have and they are very nice guys. I feel extra motivated to tour this summer again since we have such a good band. Initially I agreed to ten concerts between 10 and 31 July. There would be five concerts in Sweden and five in Norway/Finland. But there are talks about additional concerts being added within the same time period.

As an artist, what kind of relation do you have with the self-willed Swedish summer weather?
-I don't dare to say anything before the tour (laughing). It's important to have a humble attitude towards the weather. But I have often been very lucky, sometimes the clouds have broken up and the sun have begun to shine the moment I entered the stage. But I also recall concerts in Umeå 1992 and Skövde 1993 - terrible downpours. But there were still as many people in the audience as during the summer's best concerts. It gives you an extra kick and energy that the audience actually stay and doesn't leave, even though they are soaked. Besides, we also tend to get quite wet... Privately it means a lot to spend the summer in Stockholm's archipelago together with my family. And the summers of my childhood, Höga kusten, Ådalen. The ocean and mountains. To go fishing and swimming.

Your first DVD "Just då!" is also about to be released.
-Yes. Marie took the initiative already a couple of years ago and she contacted Lotta Jankell, who has produced most of it and is the executive producer for the whole project. I gave Lotta "carte blanche" to shape and design the DVD according to her own ideas and gave her access to both taped material and a lot of photos. I asked her to draw a line which she ferels is tasteful when it comes to how private you can get. The idea with the DVD was to give a little bit more than the usual, that it should feel generous.

What happens after this?
-Both the live album and the DVD feels like a documentation of my career, with emphasis on the last 12 years. It felt natural to summarize. It is probably also a bit of a closure, since I feel that in the future I will head in a different direction with my music.
